Abruzzo, the hidden Gem of Italy

After spending some time travelling Italy, I absolutely fell in love with the Abruzzo region of Italy. Relatively unknown, this region is like a diamond in the rough. With mountains twice the size of Ben Nevis, you can ski and then drive for an hour and find yourself at the beach. It really has it all, from amazing produce to gorgeous sparkling wine. If you want to live well, and do it cheaply, Abruzzo is your place. There's also so much history steeped into this region, that's simply waiting to be discovered...
